STRATEGINEWS.Id, Jakarta – To fulfill government rice reserves (CBP) managed by Perum Bulog, the government imported 27 thousand tons of rice from Vietnam.
The imported rice is currently in the process of being unloaded at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. The unloading process takes about six days.
“Today, after ensuring that Bulog’s SPHP rice stock is maintained at PIBC together with the Minister of BUMN, we are completing it by ensuring the loading and unloading process of rice from outside. Here we are currently unloading 27 thousand tons. This amount will take up to six days,” said Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi at Tanjung Priok Harbor, Wednesday (4/10/2023).
Arief confirmed that rice imports would increase by 1 million tons. Later, this addition will increase CBP’s supply to 1.5 million to 2 million tons.
“We ensure that Bulog rice as the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) will be ready at all times and later the stock transfer to early 2024 will be more than 1 million tons. The President’s directive asks that the CBP stock in Bulog must not be less than 1 million. In fact, we are asking to continue to increase it. “up to 1.5 to 2 million tons. Bulog’s stock today is secured at 1.7 million tons,” said Arief.
With this rice stock, Arief hopes that the public will not have to worry about responding to issues surrounding rice. This is because the national rice stock owned by the government is guaranteed to be sufficient.
Arief also explained about the depreciation of rice prices at PIBC after the distribution of SPHP rice. He also revealed that the PIBC derivative market had also been distributed SPHP rice.
“The President’s order is for the stock at PIBC to be 35 thousand. Today the rice stock is already 31 thousand. Bulog has filled the PIBC with more than 5 thousand tons from the Purchase Order (PO) of 8 thousand,” he explained.
The distribution of SPHP rice has resulted in a thousandth drop in the price of medium rice at PIBC. Arief said this had been expected since last September.
“Earlier we also visited Rawamangun Market which is a downline of INKOPPAS and saw directly that SPHP rice was available in outlets with a maximum selling price of IDR 10,900 per kg. In the future, distribution will continue to be added to derivative markets outside Jakarta. Of course, by collaborating together Food Station,” concluded Arief.
